Obama endorses Daley for mayor
Obama endorses Daley for mayor CHICAGO U-S Senator Barack Obama (ber-AHK' oh-BAH'-muh) made an important but not unexpected announcement today in Chicago.
No, it wasn't the Democrat's awaited announcement about running for president.
It's an endorsement of Richard Daley for another term as Chicago mayor.
Speaking today at Daley's re-election headquarters, Obama said the mayor has made great strides in reforming public schools and public housing. Obama also praised what he called Daley's "inclusive style of leadership."
If he's re-elected on February 27th and serves the full term, Daley will be Chicago's longest-serving mayor. His father -- Richard J-Daley -- served 21 years.
Obama formed a presidential exploratory committee last week. He plans to make an official announcement February tenth.
