HILLary Clinton TROUNCING RIVALS IN N.H. & OHIO

HILLary clinton TROUNCING RIVALS IN N.H. & OHIO

WASHINGTON - Hillary Rodham Clinton has blown past her primary rivals in the 2008 kickoff state of New Hampshire, and bests the field of White House hopefuls in the swing state of Ohio, new polls show.

Clinton's poll bounce comes on the heels of her announcement that she's running, and her much-publicized first campaign foray into Iowa this past weekend.
She had enjoyed a high-tech campaign rollout, featuring a video announcement of her candidacy and three nights of Web chats with supporters.
"We had a great first week and we hope it is a sign of things to come," campaign spokesman Phil Singer told The Post yesterday.
Clinton has jumped out to a 15-point lead in New Hampshire over her leading rival, Barack Obama, 40 percent to 25 percent, the new Survey USA poll shows. Former Sen. John Edwards stands at 23 percent.
When Clinton announced her presidential bid 10 days ago, she trailed Obama in New Hampshire by 4 points, 23 percent to 19 percent, and was tied with Edwards, according to a Zogby International poll.
The former first lady parachutes into New Hampshire for a two-day campaign tour this weekend - her first trip to the state since 1996.
On the Republican side, the same Survey USA poll shows Sen. John McCain narrowly edging Rudy Giuliani, 33 percent to 32 percent, with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney placing third, with 21 percent.
In a Quinnipiac poll released yesterday, Clinton is now the favored presidential choice in Ohio.
"Those who say Sen. Clinton can't win the White House because she can't win a key swing state like Ohio might rethink their assumption," said Peter Brown, the poll's assistant director.
Clinton, who checks in with 38 percent support, blows Obama (13 percent) and Edwards (11 percent) out of the water.
She's not just doing it with support from women. The poll shows she's backed by 31 percent of men, the most of any Democrat.
For the GOP, it's a two-horse race in the eyes of Ohioans, with Giuliani besting McCain by 8 points, 30 percent to 22 percent.
In a head-to-head matchup, Clinton squeaks past Giuliani, 46 percent to 43 percent, within the poll's margin of error.
The Survey USA poll of 1,544 likely voters and the Quinnipiac poll of 1,305 each has a margin of error of less than 5 points.
