Al Gore speaks at Monument Mountain High School
Before the lecture, former Vice President spoke to the media, saying that if he could trade places with President Bush, he would stop letting the oil companies run the government. Gore said he is convinced the US will have to lead the way in reducing global warming, and politicians will have to find the backbone to do what is necessary.
He told the crowd that his movie was named in honor of scientists who studied global warming and whose work was censored. Ironically, the news conference experienced some censorship itself; some members of the media were not allowed in, while others were, and organizers had no explanation for what happened
"It makes no sense to me because ordinarily, these events are covered. There's no restrictions. I honestly don't know what the restrictions were tonight. I've never encountered this before," Berkshire Eagle reporter Derek Gentile said.
Gore also spoke about his loss of the 2000 Presidential election. He said he harbors no bitterness, but does feel badly for the people that have been hurt by the political policies that have been put in place since then. He assured the crowd he has absolutely no plans of running for President in 2008, claiming he has fallen out of love with the political process.
