Clinton says Democrats must have 'trust and confidence' on security
DES MOINES, Iowa Visiting Iowa for the first time as a presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton says there are "no do overs in life" and that Democrats need a candidate who inspires confidence on national security.
The New York senator, who recently announced she was exploring a presidential run, says Congress got bad information about Iraq, and Democrats shouldn't be afraid to talk tough about national security.
The former first lady also says she has learned the lessons of the last two presidential campaigns, both lost by Democrats who responded slowly to criticism.
She says Democrats need to deck their opponents when they're attacked. She says she's been through lots of political fights and the key is holding your ground and fighting back.
More than 1,500 people jammed a high school gymnasium in Des Moines for an event with Clinton this morning. Earlier, she met with state Democrats at the party's headquarters. She's also planning a visit eastern Iowa for house parties in Cedar Rapids and Davenport.
