Obama Endorses Daley For Another Term
Obama Endorses Daley For Another Term (CBS) CHICAGO U.S. Sen. Barack Obama was talking politics today, but not about his expected presidential bid. He added his name to the list of those supporting Mayor Richard M. Daley for re-election.
Speaking today at Daley's campaign headquarters, Obama said the mayor has made great strides in reforming public schools and public housing. Obama also praised what he called Daley's "inclusive style of leadership."
Obama called Daley "one of the best mayors, if not the best mayor in the country."
"So I'm proud to stand next to him and am glad that he is seeking re-election," Obama added.
If he's re-elected on Feb. 27 and serves the full term, Daley will be Chicago's longest-serving mayor. His father, Richard J. Daley, served 21 years.
Obama formed a presidential exploratory committee last week. He plans to make an official announcement Feb. 10.
