Elizabeth Taylor has said she will donate £1,170 - the legal limit - to Senator Clinton's campaign for the 2008 election

Elizabeth Taylor has announced her support for Hillary Clinton's presidential bid, declaring the former first lady to be 'savvy and smart'.
The 74-year old actress, said she would donate £1,170 - the legal limit - to Senator Clinton's campaign for the 2008 election.
"I have contributed to Senator Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign because she has a mind of her own and a very strong one at that," Taylor said in a statement.
"I like the way she thinks. She is very savvy and a smart leader with years of experience in government, diplomacy and politics."
The announcement will be a boost to Mrs Clinton's team, who are counting on the financial and vocal support of Hollywood's big players to ease her path into the White House.
Her political advisors are hoping to capitalise on Hollywood disillusionment over the Iraq war.
America's most liberal and wealthiest region is always a top target for Democrat campaigns.
Former President Bill Clinton, her husband, was heralded by Hollywood as the great liberal hope in the Nineties on his way to the top and Team Clinton know that the vocal support of one big movie star can translate into millions of votes.
But despite opinion polls establishing her as front-runner, Hillary Clinton, 59, faces stiff competition from fellow Democrat Barack Obama in the fight for Hollywood's hearts and wallets.
In a city fuelled by aspirations and dream-come-true stories, some like the prospect of backing the country's first female president while others believe Obama will become America's first black leader.
The Illinois senator has been hailed by the actor George Clooney as being the 'most electrifying thing to happen to the Democratic party since Kennedy' and his supporters include Matt Damon, Will Smith, Oprah Winfrey, Oliver Stone and Ben Affleck.
Mrs Clinton is supported by Tom Hanks, Sharon Stone, Billy Crystal, Jerry Seinfeld, Martin Scorsese and Susan Sarandon.
But an announcement that Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen, who are partners at DreamWorks studio, are throwing a fundraiser for Obama, appeared to give him the upper hand this week.
Political analysts believe the decision between which candidate gets the most Hollywood support will transcend the race and gender factors.
Todd Boyd, a professor at the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts, said: "Obama is not the immediate favourite of a lot of African-Americans - he came up through the system, not the grass roots like Jesse Jackson.
"Race and gender are a major factor but not the only factor. Hollywood will line up and see how these things play out."
"Obama has that 'It' factor, that star appeal. And it's Hollywood that created that system."
