Al Gore To Launch Global Warming Awareness Extravaganza? Wolfmother Promise To Stay Dark, And More
Al Gore is apparently set to make a huge announcement today in which he reveals plans to put on a series of climate change concerts that will “dwarf” Live Aid. The concerts will apparently take place July 7, and will involve film, music and television content taking place in seven cities including London, Washington DC, Shanghai, Rio de Janeiro, Cape Town and Kyoto. According to an insider, unlike Live Aid, this event will not be about increasing awareness, but rather about taking action. “Live Aid was about asking people to stump up money, this is about effecting systemic change.”
Al Gore for president … again. Apparently all that intense, Sabbath-like squealing and riffing wasn’t enough of a trip to the dark side for Australian rockers Wolfmother. The band promises that their next record (which they’ve been working on but has no release date yet) will be more of the same. “Songs like ‘Joker & The Thief’ and ‘Woman’ were just relentless and totally in your face,” Wolfmother frontman Andrew Stockdale reportedly said. “I feel like there’s an element of that in the new songs.” The new Killers video for “Read My Mind” is really sweet, and we mean that in the least patronizing way possible. It features adorable Japanese school children and unicycles.
